Editorial Guidelines for Feature Articles and Columns

The trusted authority for all things parking, Parking Today publishes engaging, instructive content for industry professionals while highlighting and celebrating the efforts of the diverse people and entities that comprise the parking sector worldwide. Therefore, we seek relevant, insightful, and practical articles that will inform our readers, helping them improve their professional skills, knowledge, and performance while benefiting the industry overall.


A printed version of Parking Today is published monthly, while digital content is continually added to the stg-parkingtoday-ptstaging.kinsta.cloud website.

General Article Requirements

Content Standards

  • Exclusivity: Content must be exclusive to Parking Today and not be submitted or published elsewhere.
  • Non-promotional: Articles should not be self-promotional or read like advertisements for a specific company, technology, or service.

Author Requirements

  • Author disclosure: Authors are requested and expected to disclose any financial, economic, or professional interests or affiliations that may have influenced positions taken or advocated in their articles.
  • Author bio details: Provide a headshot for each author and a bio section at the end of the article that includes each author's name, title, affiliation, and email address.

Documentation

  • Source verification: Quotations must be supported by sources (e.g., interview transcripts, email exchanges).
  • References: Parking Today does not use footnotes. Any cited references must be included within the article text.

Article Specifications

Article Length

  • Print feature articles: 900 to 2,000 words
  • Print columns: 700 words for a 1-page column or 1,200 words for 1.5 pages
  • Digital articles: Our digital content is intended to be short and to the point, enabling readers to review items quickly. Therefore, digital articles ideally are in the range of 400 to 500 words. Longer articles are possible, but this should be communicated in advance of submitting an item.

Tone and Style

  • Professional and concise: Avoid chatty tones and unnecessary length.
  • Clarity: Ensure that the writing is clear and free of jargon.

Image Requirements

Technical Specifications

  • High-resolution: Provide images at least 1 MB in size.
  • Relevance: Images should illustrate key points of the article.
  • Credits and captions: A credit and a proposed caption, which is subject to editing, must be provided for each image.

Cover Photo Requirements

  • Resolution: Minimum resolution of 300 dpi
  • Orientation: Vertical orientation required
  • Size: At least 8.5" wide x 11" tall
  • Content: Must not be self-promotional or advertorial in nature. Should highlight who benefits from products/services rather than the products/services themselves.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Parking Today cannot use images for which the copyright is held by a third party unless written permission from the owner is provided.

Submission and Publication

Submission Process

  • Preferred format: Articles must be submitted as Word or Google documents.
  • Editing and revision: Articles are subject to editing for style, grammar, and length.

Publication Terms

  • Publication not guaranteed: Acceptance of an article does not guarantee publication.
  • Copyright: Parking Today Media retains the copyright for all content published in the print and digital versions of Parking Today.

The editor-in-chief of Parking Today has the final say as to whether a given article abides by the magazine's guidelines and retains the right to make any necessary changes to an article.
